LEONARD, SUGAR RAY / ROBERTO DURAN II POSTER 1980

TIMELINE: "NO MAS" WERE THE WORDS ROBERTO DURAN RESPONDED TO THE REFEREE WHEN ASKED IF HE WANTED TO CONTINUE IN THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED REMATCH WITH FELLOW HALL OF FAMER SUGAR RAY LEONARD. THEIR FIRST BOUT THAT TOOK PLACE JUNE 20, 1980 IN MONTREAL, CANADA IS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE GREATEST FIGHTS EVER, ENDING IN A UNANIMOUS DECISION WIN BY A FEROCIOUS ROBERTO DURAN. IN A BIZARRE TURN OF EVENTS, THE REMATCH WHICH TOOK PLACE ON NOVEMBER 25, 1980, WAS STOPPED IN 8 ROUNDS AFTER DURAN REFUSED TO CONTINUE OUT OF FRUSTRATION BY LEONARD'S SHOWBOATING AND SHEER ELUSIVENESS THAT NIGHT. IT WAS LATER REPORTED THAT DURAN EXPERIENCED CRAMPS AND DISCOMFORT FROM A PRE FIGHT MEAL. PRESENTED HERE IS A VERY SCARCE ON SITE POSTER FOR THIS EVENT.
